Arc Raiders Beginner's Guide 2026: Tips, Extraction & Loadouts

Arc Raiders has become one of the biggest extraction shooters of 2026, with millions of daily players and nearly a million concurrent on PC alone. If you’re new, the loop is simple: deploy, loot, survive the ARC machines and other players, and extract. Winning means getting out alive—so here’s a practical beginner’s guide to get you raiding without burning through gear.

Arc Raiders beginner guide

What Arc Raiders Is

Arc Raiders is a PvPvE extraction shooter. You drop into hostile maps, fight AI machines (ARC) and other players, grab loot, and reach an extraction point before the match ends or you die. Whatever you extract with you keep; whatever you’re carrying when you die you can lose (except items in your Safe Pocket). The tension comes from knowing when to push for more loot and when to leave.

Movement and Stamina

  • Holster your weapon when you’re not in combat to move faster. Every second counts when you’re crossing open ground or rotating to extraction.
  • Manage stamina. Sprint only when you need to. Use Adrenalite shots to recover stamina in a pinch. Running everywhere drains you and leaves you vulnerable when it matters.
  • Sound matters. Firing, footsteps, looting, and even shield recharging make noise that can draw ARC and other players. Perks like Gentle Pressure reduce noise and help you stay off the radar.

Loadouts: Free vs Custom

  • Free Loadouts cost nothing and are ideal for learning the map and mechanics. You don’t risk your own gear.
  • Custom Loadouts use your unlocked gear and give you access to the Safe Pocket—a small number of slots where items are kept even if you die. Use them once you’re comfortable.

Safe Pocket: What to Put There

Your Safe Pocket is limited. Use it for:

  • Crafting materials you need for upgrades or quests
  • Quest items that would be painful to lose
  • Raider Hatch Keys (needed for quieter extractions)
  • High-value loot you can’t afford to drop

Don’t fill it with common junk. Prioritize what actually progresses your account or your next run.

Loot Priority

Focus on:

  • Crafting materials
  • Medical supplies and ammo
  • ARC parts (for progression and crafting)

Leave low-value or duplicate items if your bag is full. One successful extract with the right loot beats three deaths with a full backpack of scraps.

Combat: Positioning Over Aim

  • Use cover and control chokepoints. Don’t stand in the open.
  • Hold high ground where you can see approaches and retreat if needed.
  • Shape firing lanes so enemies have to push into you.
  • Pick fights when they’re worth it. If you’re loaded and near extraction, consider leaving instead of chasing one more kill.

Extraction: How to Get Out

  • Elevators are common but broadcast your position. Everyone knows when someone is leaving. Use them when you’re confident or when the timer is tight.
  • Raider Hatches are quieter and safer but require keys. Save keys for when you have a lot to lose.
  • Don’t be the first to extract if the area is hot—campers often watch elevators. Scout or wait for someone else to draw fire.
  • Extract mid-raid when you’re ahead. The final minutes often see every remaining player rushing the same points; leaving earlier can be the smart move.

ARC Enemies and Threat Levels

Get to know the machines:

  • Low: Tick, Wasp
  • Medium: Turret, Leaper
  • High: Shredder, Rocketeer

Adjust your route and engagement based on what’s nearby. Sometimes avoiding a fight is the best play.

Squad Play

If you’re in a trio, balance roles: Recon (scouting, callouts), Assault (frontline), Support (heals, utility). Stick together enough to win fights, but don’t clump so one explosion wipes the team.

Pre-Raid Prep

  • Know what you need before you deploy—quest items, materials, specific loot. That way you don’t waste Safe Pocket or inventory space.
  • Unlock core facilities early (e.g. Armory Lockers, Intel Suite) so you have more loadout and intel options.
  • Do daily contracts and season tasks for progression and rewards.

Best Beginner Weapons (Quick Reference)

  • PvE: Pharaoh, Anvil, Hullcracker
  • PvP: Stitcher, Kettle, Il Toro Shotgun

Try a few in the firing range or with Free Loadouts before committing to a main.

Arc Raiders is one of the most played games of 2026 for a reason—the loop is tense and rewarding. Start with Free Loadouts, protect your Safe Pocket for the right items, and extract when you’re ahead. For more gaming and promo code guides, check our Blog and Promo Codes pages.
